The awards are judged by industry specialists, including engineers from Morgan Stanley, HP, Norland, Dell, and APC, and are sponsored by the British Computer Society, and the Green Grid.

The annual awards are organised by DatacenterDynamics, an information provider who host a series of 22 annual popular datacentre industry conference events worldwide. In 2008 alone, nearly 8,000 industry specialists attended the conferences.
